TIME CHANGE: Maspeth High's Boys Varsity Soccer Team Tryouts

Updated August 18, 2017
Good afternoon everyone,
Tryouts for Maspeth's Boys Varsity Soccer Team will still begin on August 21st at Newtown's Athletic Field but there has been a slight change to the time on Monday due to permit conflicts. The field is located behind the Queens Center Mall and has tennis courts as well as a track.
The following information is for 8/21 ONLY -- Players should arrive at 1:15 PM so that paperwork can be handed in and equipment can be checked before the tryout. Training will take place from 2-4 and we want to make sure that ALL of this time is used for playing so please arrive at 1:15 as previously mentioned.
As of right now, the schedule for Tuesday-Friday remains the same (Newtown Field at 11:45). Unfortunately, these things are always subject to change due to PSAL regulations and field availability so please continue to check for messages like this one.
As a reminder, players interested in trying out should bring cleats, shin guards, running shoes, and water. If you have a soccer ball at home, please write your name on it and bring it because we can always use extras.
I look forward to seeing all of you there and getting our season underway!

This message is for all athletes interested in trying out for Maspeth's Boys Varsity Soccer Team:

Official tryouts for the team will begin at 12 PM on Monday, August 21st and go throughFriday, August 25th at Newtown High School's soccer field. Anyone who makes the team, gets put on extended tryouts, or is on vacation during the initial tryout week, will continue to train until school begins.  All players must have an up to date medical/physical and parent consent form on file in order to be allowed to tryout.  Anyone who does not have BOTH of these forms will not be allowed to play until they are handed in.  These forms can be dropped off in Mr. Stansfield's mailbox in the main office at school or brought in person on the first day of tryouts. To access these forms you can use the links provided below:

Parental Consent:

Players should be equipped with sneakers, cleats, and shin guards.  A soccer ball is not required but if you have one it would be helpful to write your name on it and bring it so that we have extra balls to run drills.

All ability levels are welcome but spots on the team will be limited.

IMPORTANT: Interested athletes should be running/training prior to official tryouts because at some point during the first week of tryouts each player will complete a 3 mile timed run.  Soccer requires the ability to run for extended periods of time so make sure to do your best to be in shape or you are severely hurting your chances of making the team.

All tryout dates are mandatory but if you will be on vacation or unable to attend tryouts the week of August 21st, you must contact Mr. Stansfield to make alternate arrangements for when you return.

If you have any further questions, please contact Coach Stansfield at

I look forward to seeing you all there and getting our season underway.

Coach Stansfield
