Ballet II

Ballet II - Intermediate Ballet. Intermediate dance course to further students’ understanding of the practice and origins of classical dance through physical engagement and the study of dance history and theory. Students will expand on their technical skills by following the American Ballet Theater’s National Training Curriculum as well as studying various other dance techniques and disciplines from around the world. Students will be introduced to intermediate ballet technique such as pirouettes, the 3 main movement qualities in dance and their corresponding steps (adagio, allegro, and grand allegro), and continue their study of Dance History from the Baroque Era through the Classical Era. Ballet Two coursework includes the Five Strands of Learning Dance as set out in the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Dance - Dance Making, Developing Dance Literacy, Making Connections, Working with Community and Cultural Resources, Exploring Careers and Lifelong Learning, as well as being aligned with all NY State and National Standards in Dance Arts.
