Speech and Debate Team

The Maspeth High School Speech and Debate Team seeks to help its members develop skills in research, argumentation, collaboration, and public speaking.  To articulate oneself clearly, to think quickly on one's toes, and to stand up, fearlessly, in the heat of verbal confrontations are some of the attributes that characterize our best debaters and orators.  As we enter our second year, we invite everyone to see exactly what it takes to become an orator or a debater at the competitive level.  Last year, we focused primarily in Public Forum debates.  This year, under the guidance of Mr.Von Hoppe and Ms.Dabovic, the MHS Speech and Debate Team will seek accomplished orators to compete in Speech events. 

Speech and Debate Team meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 2:45-3:45 p.m, Thursdays 3:45-4:45., in room 317 and library.
