Global History II

Global History II: By examining such concepts as belief systems, change, conflict, factors of production, geography, imperialism, movement of people and goods, nationalism, scarcity, technology, and urbanization, among others, students will gain a deep understanding of trends in global history. The first semester of the course begins with the Enlightenment and proceeds into the Industrial Revolution and the Russian Revolution. Second semester begins with World Wars I and II and continues into the postwar world up to the present. Students will read On the Social Contract by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. They will write approximately one research paper in the first semester and learn the art of Parliamentary Debate. Second semester will focus on Regents Examination preparation.
