Biology

Welcome to the Biology Home Page.  We look forward to guiding our students on the path to success in and out of the science classroom. We believe having a well-rounded knowledge in the natural world and the ability to critically think about and discuss scientific concepts is an indispensable asset for all students to obtain.

Every day, students should come to class prepared with :

• A binder (for biology only) and looseleaf paper.
• Pencils and pens (black or blue).
• Homework or other due assignments.
• An inquisitive mindset.

The Biology Department offers hands-on, empirical labs throughout the school year in state-of-the-art classrooms and labs. 

AP Biology: This course is designed to be the equivalent of a college level general biology course. As an extension of Biology IA and IB, this course focuses on cellular chemistry, genetics, evolution, and ecology. All students in this course will be required to take the Advanced Placement Exam upon the completion, provided they have met all school-wide requirements.

Living Environment I: Students will be introduced to the nature of science from biologist’s perspective. This introductory course focuses on the study of organisms (living things) on the microscopic level including cell function, physiology, and function. 

Living Environment II: This secondary course focuses on the interaction of organisms and their environments on a macroscopic level. Students will also be able to develop an understanding how human activity has affected our planet and methods that may be used to conserve our ecosystem.
